Rebellyous Foods Announces Launch of New Retail Products

February 1, 2021

Rebellyous Foods, the Seattle-based company creating groundbreaking manufacturing technology for plant-based meats, announced the rollout of three new products: a new formulation of its nuggets, and the addition of patties and tenders to its product portfolio. The products are launching in select grocers in Seattle, Portland, and Northern California this week.

Rebellyous Nuggets, Patties, and Tenders are 100% plant-based with no cholesterol, antibiotics, or hormones, and less saturated fat than traditional chicken nuggets. In the coming weeks, shoppers at more than 20 stores in the Pacific Northwest will be able to find the products in the freezer case at an MSRP of $5.99. The new product is also available for foodservice and will be on menus at Seattle-area chicken chains Ma’ono and Galaxy Rune.

Sales of plant-based foods have been surging. According to the Food Marketing Institute, “The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of plant-based options has been 14 times compared to the total store.” Plant-based meats in particular experienced a $760 million, or 12%, increase in retail sales from 2018-2019.

“Our fans — from chefs to individual consumers — love our nuggets and have long been asking for patties and tenders,” said Christie Lagally, founder and CEO. “We’ve been hard at work creating the next generation of products that taste exactly like one expects when they bite into a chicken sandwich, nugget, or tender: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We believe these are a game changer and set a new industry standard for taste.”

In April 2020, Rebellyous raised $6 million in Series A funding co-led by Clear Current Capital, Fifty Years, and Liquid 2 Ventures. Other funders include KBW Ventures, CPT Capital, Agronomics, and Vulcan Capital, the investment arm of Vulcan Inc. the company founded by Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Paul Allen.
